Hi Fin and Plume Tail Red Wag Platy

In addition to the obvious goal of a higher fin and a longer and larger plume, I am working on making the body more compact.  Some call it teacup or firecracker.  True platys have a short stubby body.  Years of breeding with swordtails and variatus have yielded some great color combinations but the short Maculatus body has been blurred to something between a true platy and a swordtail or variatus.

I have some real cool plain fin teacup red platys which I will be using to achieve this trait.

Hi Fin Salt N Pepper Red Top Platy

These are young fish in my fish room.  The dad was a yellow comet tail and the mom was a So Called Pineapple Hi Fin.  The dad's dorsal is huge, knda like the super sailfin red eye swordtails that have been showing up in the hobby for the past couple of years.  I am starting to see the dorsal of some of my young males extending beyond hi fin to sailfin (I hope).

Hi Fin So Called Pineapple Platy

I Don't really understand the name but thats what Aqualog calles em so I will as well.  These So Called Pineapple Platys came from a single female I picked up at a LFS.  She caught my eye for her size and huge dorsal.  Fortunatly she was pregnant and after a few drops I have been able to get a nice line of these going.

Plume Tail / Pin Tail Platy

These came from a pair of black and orange platys I picked up at a LFS.  Enhancement of the plume and possibly adding a hi fin are my plans for these fish.
