Blue Wag Swordtails

Below are pictures of my blue wag swordtail line.  I am selectively breeding them to eliminate any red in the fish.  All lines of blue swordtails I have ever seen have the problem of a large number developing some red on the side of the fish.  This becomes especially evident in advanced aged fish.  I believe that I have achieved about 80% success in eliminating the red in this line.

The other thing about blue swordtails is that the blue is more of a sheen than a color.  When these fish are spooked they look very grey with only a slight blue tinge.  When they are happy they do show some pretty vivid blue, but even under the best of circumstances, they are not blue like the electric blue Dempsey by any stretch of the imagination.

True Albino Swordtails

Females stay mostly devoid of color and the males get a green sheen on the tail and a red line down the body.
This line came from Pete Mang (Lotsoffish) and has been strong and prolific.  I had a line of these several years ago that over time just wasted away.  I am very happy that this line is as strong as it is.  This is a really beautiful fish.

Hi Fin Painted Swordtail

These are a cross between a Hi Fin Blood Red, Red Eye Female Swordtail and a male Showa Swordtail.  These fish are currently throwing so really cool fry.  They include Albino Koi, Hi-fin red lined green swords, Hi-fin Painted Swords and what I am calling albino varigated confused Koi for lack of a better term.

Showa Swordtails

This is a nice line of Showa.  What I like to see is a nice balance between the white red and black.  In addition to breeding this line I am crossing it with some other Swordtails to create new varieties.  I used a showa male to make the HF Painted Swordtails above.

Pearlscale Koi

This is the newest strain I am working on.  It came from a Showa X Hi Fin Red Eye Red.  I am currently calling it Pearlscale Koi.  They have red eyes and an Albino Koi Pattern but not defined, i.e. red / white / red, it is more varigated.  Some of their scales give that pearl sheen you see on pearlscale angels.  I am very excited about these and can't wait to see where they go from here.

Albino Pineapple Swordtail

This is a new to me strain (F0).  It is looking like the females will stay mostly white with red eyes and a red dorsal with little, if any, encroachment to the body.  The males appear to have the red dorsal moving into the body and a faint red line down the body.  I will update as they grow.

Orange Saddleback Sailfin Swordtail

These swordtails came from a cross between a showa swordtail and a sailfin red eye red female swordtail.  They have a very orange dorsal that on the males extends into the body (hence the saddleback)  the body color is a little more difficult to pipoint.  It generally looks grey but has moments of blueish sheen or green and has some faint red striping.  these are still young fish and I look forward to seeing their fully developed form.
